VOLUNTEER WANTED, OFFICE, WEEKLY Some people are part of our community but can’t come to church on a regular basis. Still, we don’t want them to be or feel forgotten. Now that we have a work space for volunteers in the pastor’s office, we’d like a volunteer to send UP-words, bulletins and short notes to those who can’t be here. If you volunteer for this position, you will find a mailing list, copies of the bulletin, sermon and UP-words, and notes to send along as well on the volunteer desk in a big envelope marked “Weekly Mailings.†You can come in at your leisure, prepare the materials for mailing, stamp them, and mail them. And if you do, sweet friends of ours will know that we still care about them. See Jeanne if you want to be the mail person.
We’d like a second volunteer who would send an e-message to people who prefer that kind of contact. It would include an invitation to check out the web site, a link to recent articles posted there, and a link to UP-words, so that those who are more comfortable with computer contact will also know that we are thinking about them. See Jeanne if you would like to be that contact person. She will put you on the list to receive UP-words and sermons for forwarding. Between us, we can be a friendly church for people who can’t get here regularly as well as for those who do.
CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL Jennifer Herbach is back to teaching the Children’s Sunday School program that runs during the worship service, but success has brought the need for assistance, of two types. Jennifer needs people who will be assistants and people who will be substitutes. Assistants will be in the children’s class on days of their choosing, helping the class to run smoothly while Jennifer is there. Substitutes will be there on days when Jennifer and her family have planned not to be in church. They could also be assisted by the assistants.
If you are among those who are really pleased that we can now offer a children’s program; if you are someone who remembers the love, care and guidance that you received years ago as a child in Sunday School; if you are called to help children learn that God loves them more than words can ever tell—if this note is calling to you, please let Jennifer know that you are willing to be a part of the program. We will all thank you for living out your call to love and guide the children.
