PEACE WITH JUSTICE ADVENT BOOKLET The 2005 Peace with Justice Advent booklet, 2 Decades: Reflections of Lament & Hope, celebrates the 20th publication of Peace with Justice Advent booklets. It can be downloaded at the Oregon-Idaho Annual Conference web site (umoi.com) The annual booklets are a culmination of peace and justice reflections from the hearts and minds of peace advocates and friends in our family of faith who have expressed their personal thoughts through written words. COUNCIL OF BISHOPS In the midst of a wide range of issues discussed during the Oct. 30-Nov. 4 Council of Bishops meeting in Lake Junaluska, N.C., the bishops continued their focus on "Making Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World." They developed seven "vision pathways" on which to lead the church: 1) developing new congregations; 2) transforming existing congregations; 3) teaching the Wesleyan model of forming disciples of Jesus Christ; 4) strengthening clergy and lay leadership; 5) reaching and transforming the lives of new generations of children; 6) eliminating poverty in community with the poor; and 7) expanding racial/ethnic ministries (primarily for U.S. conferences). These pathways were then referred to the Connectional Table and the general agencies to guide their work.
